Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients >18 years who present with STEMI and are willing to undergo primary PCI

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Chest pain >12 hrs Prior MI Severe valvular heart disease Fibrinolytic therapy before arrival Hemodynamic instability Life threatening arrhythmias Cardiac arrest and resuscitated patients Known LV dysfunction Pregnant women

Angiographic recanalization of culprit vessel defined as TIMI II/III flow rate assessed during initial angiography during primary PCI ST segment resolution defined as 50% decrease in ST segment elevation in the lead showing maximum ST elevation (on initial ECG) before primary PCI Timepoint: during initial angiography ie during baseline angiography
