Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) patients satisfying Rotterdam criterion for PCOS which is based on any two of the following features: a) oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea, b) clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism, c) polycystic ovaries on ultrasound 2) patients requiring only first line treatment i.e. lifestyle modification
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) patients requiring infertility treatment 2) patients suffering from type II diabetes / hypothyroidism / hyperprolactinemia / non-classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia / hypogonadotropic hypogonadism / Cushingâ??s disease / androgen producing tumours / any other severe illness or co-morbid status 3) use of oral contraceptives / hormone treatment / insulin-sensitizing agents within previous six weeks 4) pregnancy 5) current or past smoker
