Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients (aged between 18 and 60y) of either sex and American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status I or II, undergoing any surgery of more than 2h duration under general anaesthesia with endotracheal intubation will be recruited in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patientsâ?? refusal 2. Pregnancy 3. Patients undergoing emergency surgery. 4. Patients with any pre-existing lung diseases 5. Patients with any pre-existing neurological diseases 6. Patients with peripheral vascular diseases

MeasureTime frame
Percentages of decline in dominant side internal carotid artery peak blood flow velocity measured by spectral Doppler with a FiO2 of 0.8 in comparison to FiO2 0.3.Timepoint: 90 minutes after induction of anaesthesia

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Percentages of decline in non- dominant side internal carotid artery peak blood flow velocity measured by spectral Doppler with a FiO2 of 0.8 in comparison to FiO2 0.3. 2. Percentages of decline in both dominant and non-dominant side vertebral artery peak blood flow velocity measured by spectral Doppler with a FiO2 of 0.8 in comparison to FiO2 0.3. 3. Change in the internal carotid and vertebral artery resistive index in both the groups. Timepoint: 90 minutes after induction of anaesthesia.
