Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age greater than 65 years ASA physical status 1, 2, 3 Patients undergoing elective supratentorial craniotomies Procedures lasting a minimum of 2 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with GCS Patients with BMI > 30 Patients with CT evidence of increased intra cranial pressure Intracranial aneurysm or Arteriovenous malformations Patients with history of psychiatric illness and/or receiving neuropsychiatric drugs Patients with history of alcohol or substance abuse Patients undergoing re do procedures

MeasureTime frame
To assess the recovery in terms of emergence time, extubation time and recovery time after sevoflurane and desflurane anaesthesia in elderly patients undergoing elective supratentorial craniotomy.Timepoint: Emergence time: time taken to open eyes after cutting off inhalational agent, extubation time: time taken for extubation after cuttimg off agent, recovery time: time taken for patient to say his or her name will be measured. Immediate post operative period and one hour post operatively

MeasureTime frame
To study intraoperative haemodynamic variables between the two groupsTimepoint: Intraoperative Heart rate (HR), Systolic Blood pressure(SBP), Diastolic blood pressure (DBP), Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) will be recorded at baseline (before induction), immediately after induction, immediately after intubation, after achieving MAC of 1.0 with either of agents, at the time of pin application and thereafter every 15mins till the inhalation agents are tapered at the end of surgery;To compare the cognitive function postoperatively using Short Orientation Memory Concentration Test (SOMCT).Timepoint: One hour after shifting to ICU and will be compared between the two groups;To compare the intra operative brain conditionTimepoint: After dural opening
