Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Adult patients of either sex aged between 18 and 65 years and American society of anaesthesiologists physical status (ASA PS) I- III, with proven or clinically suspected peritonitis undergoing emergency laparotomy under general anaesthesia were recruited in this study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients or relatives who refused to provide consent, had underwent prior exploratory laparotomy in the current hospitalisation period, had history of ICU stay in last 6 months, pre-existing significant cardiac, renal and hepatic diseases, chronic alcohol intake and intra-operative massive blood loss or massive transfusion will be excluded from this study.
