Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria are: (a) the individual should be a confirmed diabetic with no serious co-morbidities; (b) he/she should be able to use mobile phones and communicate in local language Kannada or in English; (c) he/she should agree to provide a consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with critical illness and who doesnâ??t have mobile phone access were excluded from the study.

Primary aim of this study is to determine whether intervention through a mobile SMS or phone call or both, helps in the effective management of diabetes, thereby reduce the complications associated with diabetes in a rural setting of Mysuru district, Karnataka, India.Timepoint: HbA1c investigations conducted once in 3-4 months for the study period of 1 year aids in determining the impact of health education on disease management.
