Intervention1: 3 IU Oxytocin Bolus With 7 IU Oxytocin Infusion: 3 IU of oxytocin will be diluted and shall be administered intravenously over 1 minute. 7 IU units of oxytocin shall be added to the IV

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Term pregnancy in undergoing LSCS under subarachanoid block (Spinal Anesthesia)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Previous history of rupture 2. Severe anemia 3. Coagulopathies 4. Cardiac, hepatic, renal diseses 5. Known conditions predisposing to atonic PPH like hydramnios, Multiple gestation prolonged labor. 6. Severe Pre eclampsia, eclampsia. 7. Women exposed to oxytocis in labor. 8. Women requiring General Anesthesia

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of blood loss by noting the reduction in Hemoglobin percentageTimepoint: 1.Hemoglobin in gm/dl at time of admission , Hemoglobin 12 hours after the stoppage of intravenous fluids which corresponds to 48 hours after the surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Change in the heart rate and blood pressure ECG lead changes Tone of the uterus on a scale of 1-5 Need for additional uterotonics Need for blood transfusion Pre and post hematocrit. Adverse effects of the drugs like nausea, vomiting etc. Timepoint: at 1min, 5min and 10 min after extraction of the baby - upto 24 hours
