Intervention1: temporomyofascial flap: patients with temporomyofascial flap group A, will be operated for TMJ ankylosis and evaluated immediately post-operatively, 10 days post operatively and 6 month

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients with unilateral TMJ ankylosis. patients giving consent for the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients with uncontrolled systemic disease. pregnant patients. patients refusing consent for follow-up or investigations.

MeasureTime frame
Buccal fat pad will remain in the TMJ with minimal shrinkage after 6 months hence preventing re-ankylosis. Maximum interincisal distance/mouth opening will be more in buccal fat pad group. Timepoint: maximum interincisal distance comparison at 6 months. Re-ankylosis at 6 months.

1. To evaluate the maximum inter-incisal opening between the two groups. 2. To evaluate the post-operative complications(reankylosis, esthetics and facial nerve weakness).Timepoint: 6 months after surgery.;Edema by measurement using Schultze Mosgau et al technique S1: from tragus of ear to corner of mouth. S2: from tragus of ear to soft tissue pogonion. S3: From Lateral canthus of eye to the angle of mandibleTimepoint: edema measured at baseline, 1 day post-op, 10 days post-op;maximum interincisal mouth opening using a rulerTimepoint: baseline, 1 day post -op, 10 days post-op and 6 months post-op;Pain on the 1st 10 days using Visual Analogue scale (1-10)Timepoint: 1-10 days
