Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Known consenting Diabetes Mellitus patients aged 18 years and above with ulcer or wound over the lower extremity of the body

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Nondiabetic patients (except as controls) or patients having wounds not related to diabetic state or have complications like varicose ulcers, vasculitis, specific infections (e.g. tuberculosis, actinomycosis, etc.) and neoplastic

The study looks at the microbial diversity in wound infections. The primary outcome that would be studied is the bacterial species that are present in the wound causing infectionTimepoint: Immediately after sample processing
