Intervention1: Apnoeic Oxygenation (AO): Apnoeic oxygenation using a nasal cannula at 3 litres/min during laryngoscopy and intubation in children undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) physical status grade 1

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children requiring nasotracheal intubation 2. Any upper respiratory tract infection 3. Presence of underlying cardiac or respiratory disease 4. Obese children 5. Children with history suggestive of obstructive sleep apnoea 6. Children with nasal obstruction 7. Children with an anticipated difficult airway
