Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) positive celiac serology and or 2)Symptoms and signs suggestive of celiac disease 3) Confirmed Type 1 DM with positive celiac serology

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients already on gluten free diet 2) Contraindication to endoscopy 3) Presence of confounding diseases

MeasureTime frame
Development of villous atrophyTimepoint: Blood tests at 3 mths, 6 mths, 1 year, 2 years; Endoscopy at 6 mths and if required 1 year, 2 years

MeasureTime frame
Development of symptoms of celiac diseaseTimepoint: every 3 monthly till 2 years
