Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adults 18 - 80 years’ old 2. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification system:1 or 2 3. Elective surgery 4. Clinical indication for invasive arterial blood pressure monitoring

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Thoracic surgery 2. No informed consent 3. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) or Sepsis 4. Severe cardiac, coronary or vascular disease 5. Arrythmias 6. Cardiac valvular anomaly 7. BMI > 35 kg/m2 8. Position other than supine 9. Patients with nail polish or henna on index finger

Primary

MeasureTime frame
correlate the accuracy of PWTT with systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressure (MAP) measured by IABP.Timepoint: INTRAOPERATIVELY pre-induction, post-induction, during laryngoscopy and intubation, post intubation, at 15 mins intervals for 1-hour post induction and thereafter every 30 mins for 1 more hour.

1. To find a range of PWTT for a given MAP if any 2. Correlation of PWTT with pulse pressure Timepoint: INTRAOPERATIVELY pre-induction, post-induction, during laryngoscopy and intubation, post intubation, at 15 mins intervals for 1-hour post induction and thereafter every 30 mins for 1 more hour.
