Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients with plan for image guided catheter drainage procedure for infected collections

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a) Thrombocytopenia defined by platelets b) Patients on medications like vitamin K antagonists, abciximab, tirofiban, ticlopidine or antiplatelet agents(ecospirin, clopidogrel) or heparin / anti Xa inhibitors. c) Known congenital or acquired bleeding diathesis or factor deficiencies (Haemophilia, Von Willebrand Disease) d) Contraindication to FFP transfusion (eg: fluid overload, anuria) e) Contraindication to image guided drainage due to anatomical reasons (proximity to vascular structures) or persistence of severe coagulopathy (INR > 3) after receiving weight based prophylactic FFP transfusion.

To evaluate the efficacy of a weight based standard dose prophylactic FFP transfusion in non bleeding patients undergoing a image guided catheter drainage procedure for infected collection in correction of coagulopathy.Timepoint: To evaluate the efficacy of a weight based standard dose prophylactic FFP transfusion in non bleeding patients undergoing a image guided catheter drainage procedure for infected collection in correction of coagulopathy. This is by measuring the change in INR and PT post transfusion and monitoring the patient for upto 24 hours post procedure.

MeasureTime frame
To compare the rates of procedure related bleeding complications in patients without coagulopathy to those with coagulopathy prior to undergoing an image guided catheter drainage procedure for infected collections. To compare the bleeding complications in patients with coagulopathy who attain INR correction with those who do not attain significant INR correction with prophylactic FFP transfusion prior to undergoing an image guided catheter drainage procedure for infected collection. Timepoint: 24 hours
