Intervention1: Implementation of an Institutional policy for pre-operative evaluation.: The Institutional policy has been formulated by a Committee constituted by Surgeons and Anesthesiologists.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the patients posted for elective major surgeries evaluated in the PAC Clinic.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients operated on emergency basis 2) Patient refusal

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Number of pre-operative investigations per patientTimepoint: The outcome measure will be recorded on the day of surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) Number of preoperative referrals 2) Number of PAC visits till clearance obtained for surgery 3) Number of days of stay in ICU 4) Length of Hospital Stay (day of surgery to discharge) 5) Costs in relation to the pre-operative investigations per patient Timepoint: Outcome measures (1),(2) and (5) will be recorded on the day of surgery. Outcome measures (3), (4) will be recorded after discharge from ICU or ward as per the need of the patient.
