Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients from the age of 1 month to 12 years taken up electively, that require endotracheal intubation for provision of general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with finger abnormalities. Patients with airway abnormalities. Patients with skeletal dysplasias. Patients requiring nasal intubation. Patients with difficult intubation. Patients taken up for emergency surgical procedures.

MeasureTime frame
To determine the accuracy of formula using length of the middle finger(in cm) to determine the internal diameter of the uncuffed endotracheal tube(in mm)and to compare the accuracy of formula based on middle finger with the Coleâ??s formula. Timepoint: within the period of intubation.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the accuracy of formula of length of middle finger with other commonly used age,length,weight-based and related formula. Timepoint: within the period of intubation.;To evaluate any other relevant observations if they arise. Timepoint: within the period of intubation.
