Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Able to provide informed consent to participate in the trial 2. Follow-up for at least 1 year in Institute of Kidney Disease Research center Ahmedabad prior to recruitment 3. High-risk CKD defined as: (i) A decline of eGFR of 5 ml/min/year or 10 ml/min/5 years; and/or (ii) Urinary proteinuria > 150 mg/dl (iii) CKD stage 1 to 5 (not on dialysis) 5. Generalised moderate-severe periodontitis defined as a minimum cumulative probing depth of 30 mm. This is the sum of the deepest probing pocket per tooth, excluding probing depths
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. ESRD requiring treatment with RRT 2. Receiving immunosuppression 3. Received specialist periodontal treatment in the previous 1 year 4. Not amenable to periodontal treatment, e.g. severe bleeding disorders that contraindicate periodontal treatment.
