Interventions

Intervention1: Baalabilva ghritha snehapana [25 ml, oral, for 7 days], one day thila thaila abhyanga followed by ushnodaka snana [external application, amount of thaila as required by each participant
whole body application of thila thaila [quantity as required by each participant] followed by hot water bath [abhyanga and ushnodaka snana] for one day on day 8
purgation [virechana] for one day on day 9 by oral administration of 30 ml gandharva hasthadi eranda thailam
nasal instillation [nasya] of 4 ml baalabilva thailam in each nostril for 7 continuous days from day 10 to 16, and massage and instillation of 5 to 10 ml [or as per the requirement for each participan

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosed with Age Related Hearing Loss from pure tone audiometry Intact tympanic membrane

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of sudden sensorineural hearing loss Diagnosis of rapidly progressing sensorineural hearing loss Diagnosis of any intrinsic otological disease History of congenital hearing loss History of syphilitic hearing loss History of genetic hearing loss Any ototoxic drug therapy in past three months History of head trauma Significant cognitive or motor impairment Contra-indications for snehana Contra-indications for virechana Contra-indications for nasya Conta-indications for karna pooranam Any other systemic illness that contributes to hearing loss Any other condition which in the opinion of the investigators places the participant at risk if he/she were to participate in the study
