Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Healthy adult patients willing to participate in the study requiring surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars in the age group of 18 to 50 years. 2) Patients with no obvious contraindications for surgical removal of tooth under local anesthesia. 3) Patients with similar difficulty index of impacted tooth.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients not willing to be a part of the study. 2) Acute inflammation. 3) Pregnant and lactating women. 4) Patients with bleeding disorders. 5) Patients who are mentally retarded or unable to communicate. 6) Patients with known food and drug allergy.

MeasureTime frame
1) To assess the effect of preoperative injection of twin mix as a pterygomandibular nerve block on control of facial edema in surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars 2) To evaluate the interincisal mouth opening 3) To assess postoperative pain that will occur following surgery.Timepoint: Observations will be noted preoperatively and on 1st, 3rd and 7th day postoperatively.

MeasureTime frame
To note the time and need of an additional analgesic tablet taken (if any) after the administration of twin mix.Timepoint: As per the tablet of analgesic taken after the effect of anesthesia wears off postoperatively, approximately 1.5-2 hours after giving the block
