Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Willingness to sign the consent for study. 2. Diagnosis of generalized moderate â?? severe chronic periodontitis will be based on presence of atleast 20 teeth in the oral cavity, with atleast 30% of areas undergoing CAL of atleast 3mm, PPD of >= 5mm and radiographic evidence of bone loss. 3. History of smoking to enable to divide into 2 groups.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. H/O use of medications or any dental treatment within last 6 months. 2. Any known systemic disease or condition which could act modifying factor of the periodontal condition.
