Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients of age between 18 and 70 years presenting with perforation peritonitis who will undergo laparotomy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Diabetes 2. Any other immunocompromised status. 3. Re- exploration within 30 days. 4. Known allergy to metronidazole or amikacin.

Patients in all four groups will be compared for 10 days period post laparotomy ans assessed for post operative surgical site infections defined as per CDC criteriaTimepoint: 10 days post laparotomy
