Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Smokers ugergoing sugery nder G.A. 2. Aged 40 to 60 years posted for surgery. 3. Patients inluded will be american society f Anesthesioloist phsical status II{ASA II} ,Scheduled for surgeries under general anaesthesia 4.Haemodynamicaly stable 5. Current smoker according to U.S. Centre for disease control and prevention 6. B.M.I between 18.5 to 24.5Kg/m2

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.History of severe cardiovascular disease ,renal disease ,diabetes milletus and cerebrovascular disease. 2.Known hypersensitivity to the study drug . 3. Difficult airway 4. Patient refusal for participation in the study. 5.IF bradycardia (H.R- 6. Systolic B.P. >180 mmhg any time during the study period 7.Known Asthmatic 8.Patient suffering from upper airway tract infection 9.Patient i respiratory distress . 10.If closure of surgery is not completed within 10 mintes of starting infusion 11. Surgery more than 2 hours of duration .

MeasureTime frame
To compare and study the effects of different doses of dexmedetomidine during extubation in smokers and to find out the optimal dosage of dexmedetomidine for attenuation of extubation response in smokers along with minimal side effects . Extubation time will be noted and extubation quality will be rated using extubation quality 5 point scale.Timepoint: 10 minutes before commencement of surgery ,at the time extubation and till 15 minutes post extubation

MeasureTime frame
Any side effects in form of post operative vomiting and brady cardia.Timepoint: post extubation to next 3 hours;Pulse rate,systolic and diastolic b.p. ,mean arterial pressure 0xygen saturationTimepoint: every 10 minutes during surgery ,every 30 seconds at start of infusion ,during extubation and 5 minutes post extubation and thereafter every 15 minutes till 2 hours;Sedation will be evaluated using Ramsay Sedation ScaleTimepoint: 5 minutesninterval post extubation for 30 minutes and thereafter at 30 minutes for next 90 minutes
