Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosed with biopsy proven head and neck cancer. 2. Receiving head and neck irradiation or concomitant chemo-radiation for head and neck cancer. 3. Literacy: Standard 4 or higher.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Any other associated malignancies. -Salivary gland excision during surgery. -Any psychiatric illness. -Patients receiving any other drug that can cause xerostomia.

1.To compare the effect of chewable ascorbic acid tablet and mechanical stimulation on the amount of salivary outflow following head and neck irradiation. 2.To compare the efficacy of chewable ascorbate tablet and mechanical stimulation in reducing the severity of the clinical signs and symptoms of radiation-induced xerostomia. 3.To compare the efficacy of chewable ascorbate tablet and mechanical stimulation in improving quality of life. Timepoint: Day 1, Day 7, Day 14, Day 21 and at the end of radiotherapy
