Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Kannada or English speaking children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) or Specific Language Impairment(SLI) by a qualified psychiatrists/paediatricians/speech-language pathologist and/or clinical psychologist. 2. Males/ females within the age range of 6 to 9 years 3. Children with a diagnosis of ASD should have CARS score >= 30 4. Children with a diagnosis of SLI should have a score <= 1.25 SD on ALD (Expressive Language scores) for children proficient in English and LPT â?? Kannada for children proficient in Kannada.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Children who are unable to perform the tasks as instructed.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Score and compare the results obtained from each test/task between the two groups. Test of significance: Participants from the two clinical groups will be compared on the basis of performance on various language components using independent sample t-test. Timepoint: Data collection and Data Analysis: From July 2019 to April 2020

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Descriptive analysis in term of frequency and percentages of children exhibiting SLI features in the ASD group and ASD features in SLI group, based on the diagnostic criteria will be derived.Timepoint: Data collection and Data Analysis: From July 2019 to April 2020
