Intervention1: scaling and root planing, chlorhexidine metronidazole gel: we will do scaling and root planing in chronic periodontitis patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and will give chlorhexidin

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)suffering from chronic periodontitis with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus receiving anti-diabetic therapy with HbA1c level above 6.5. 2)Subjects having minimum of 20 permanent teeth in oral cavity. 3)Subjects with no history of any systemic antibiotic administration within the previous 6 months. 4)Subjects with no history of any periodontal treatment 6 months prior to the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Patients with any systemic disease other than type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. 2)Tobacco use in any form 3)Alcohol consumer

To evaluate Plaque Index, gingival index, papillary bleeding index, probing pocket depth and clinical attachment gain after scaling and root planing with and without topical application of chlorhexidine- metronidazole gel at baseline and at time interval of 3 weeks and 4 months.Timepoint: within 3 weeks and 4 months
