Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)All children aged 1 month to 18 years admitted to PICU with diagnosis of sepsis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Hospital stay 2)Brain death at admission 3)Priori decision to withhold or withdraw treatment 4)a recent febrile illness (within 2 weeks), recent use of anti-inflammatory medications (within 2 weeks), 4)any history of chronic or acute disease even remotely associated with inflammation
