Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing elective surgery requiring general anesthesia 2. Patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I & II 3. Age group between 18 and 60 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with pre-existing pharyngolaryngeal symptoms, 2. Patients with any respiratory disease 3. Recent history of upper respiratory tract infection, 4. Full stomach, pregnancy 5. Obese patients with body mass index greater than 30 kg/m2, 6. symptomatic hiatus hernia or severe gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary objective will be to compare airway sealing pressure between Baska mask and I Gel.Timepoint: At time of placing Baska mask or I gel

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary objectives will be comparison of the number of attempts at insertion of the supraglottic device, fibreoptic view score of the device, incidence of post operative sore throat after insertion.Timepoint: At time of securing airway and postoperatively at 2,6,12 and 24hours
