Intervention1: Gastrograffin contrast by Nasogastric tube.: Repeated x-rays will be done over next 24hours and will be monitor for diagnostic and therapeutic value. Control Intervention1: Sodium diatr

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients over 18 years of age. History of previous abdominal operation. Clinical and radiological evidence of adhesive small bowel obstruction. Informed consent is obtained from all the patients.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with age less than 18 years, 2.With large bowel obstruction, 3.Early postoperative obstruction (within 4 weeks)i.e.ileus 5.Documented intra-abdominal malignancy, 6.Inflammatory bowel disease, 7.History of abdominal irradiation, 8.Hyperthyroidism, any sensitivity to iodine, 9.All patients in whom the final diagnosis was not adhesive small bowel obstruction.
