Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: group 1- women above the age of 18 years who have come for antenatal evaluation with symptoms and/ or signs suggestive of chronic generalised periodontitis. group 2- matched individuals with the absence of periodontal infections. -women in either groups who deferred treatment post evaluation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: women above the age of 18 years- - with severe/ fulminant chronic generalised peri-odonotitis requiring active intervention. - women with systemic diseases which are already established causes of the outcomes in question- hypertensive disorders, diabetes mellitus, infections like UTI etc.

to study the relationship between periodontal infections and the associated adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. maternal- -premature rupture of membranes -premature pre labour rupture of membranes -preterm labour -pre-eclampsia fetal- -prematurity -low birth weightTimepoint: during antenatal visits -( 9 months) first trimester second trimester third trimester the status of the newborn- at the time of his/her birth

MeasureTime frame
to study the incidence of the above mentioned outcomes in antenatal women- - with periodontal infections (A) - without periodontal infections (B) - to compare (A) & (B)Timepoint: the outcomes will be studied in- first trimester ( 1st 3 months) second trimester (mid 3 months) third trimester (last 3 months) at the time of child birth
