Inclusion criteria: Patient undergoing both elective and emergency surgeries where atleast one arterial blood sample has been taken for blood gas analysis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known chronic renal disease Known renal tubular acidosis Known sepsis COPD Patient of Traumatic Brain injury Hyperventilation syndrome ¬ Known chronic liver disease ¬ Polytrauma with proven myoglobinuria ¬ Pregnant female ¬ Cardiac surgical procedure
