Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: CT plans of all adult patients (more than 18 years of age) who had received Head and Neck radical dose irradiation to primary tumour and to nodal areas.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Head and neck cancer patients who had received radical dose to contralateral submandibular gland.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the dosimetric profile of the contralateral submandibular gland with VMAT and IMRT in head and neck irradiation.Timepoint: There is no time point in the study. It is a record based study which compares dose received by tumour and organs at risk using two radiation delivery techniques.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
a. To compare the target volume dosimetry using the conformity index (CI) and homogeneity index (HI) between VMAT and IMRT in head and neck cancer irradiation. b. To compare the dosimetric profile of other organs at risk (parotid gland, brainstem, spinal cord, cochlea, optic apparatus, oral cavity) between VMAT and IMRT in head and neck cancer irradiation. Timepoint: There is no time point in the study. It is a record based study which compares dose received by tumour and organs at risk using two radiation delivery techniques.
