Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status grade I or II of either sex aged between 25 to 80 yrs, scheduled for total knee replacement surgery.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal Preexisting infection at block site Coagulation disorder History of psychiatric illness and preexisting neurological deficits Patient with morbid obesity BMI >40 kg/ m2 Decreased pulmonary reserve, cardiac disorders and renal dysfunctions Known allergy to study drugs

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Post-operative pain relief based on Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at fixed time interval upto 24 hours.Timepoint: 24 hours

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Weight bearing along with post-op mobilization. The time of first rescue analgesia required. Duration to perform block. Patientâ??s satisfaction for the type of block used. Timepoint: 24hrs
