Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients with Major depressive disorder 2) Patients of either sex 3) Age >18 or <55 in years
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients with physical status according to American society of anesthesiologist(ASA) 3 and 4 2) Patients with allergy to sulpha drugs 3) Patients with history of porphyria 4) Patients with history of asthma 5) Patients who have got contraindication for MECT ( Examples: Pheochromocytoma, signs of increased intracranial hypertension, recent myocardial infarction, recent stroke, adrenal insufficiency, uncontrolled hypertension, myocardial infarction, recent stroke, unruptured aneurysms, coagulopathies, unstable cervical spines/osteoporosis/bone fragility, patients with cardiac implantable devices) 6) Pregnant / Lactating women
