Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All newborns with gestational age >=32 weeks and birth weight >=1000g will be screened for possible sepsis if they present beyond 24 hr. of age with one or more of the following clinical signs - 1. history of feeding difficulty, 2. movement only when stimulated, 3. temperature =37.5oC, 4. respiratory rate over 60 breaths per minute, 5. severe chest in drawing and 6. history of convulsions
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Meconium aspiration syndrome 2. Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy 3. Neonates requiring surgery 4. CNS malformation 5. Metabolic disorders 6. Chromosomal abnormalities
