Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients (aged between 18 & 65 y) of either sex and ASA PS I to III undergoing emergency laparotomy for proven or clinically suspected peritonitis under general anaesthesia will be recruited in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: I. Patientsâ?? refusal II. History of any previous neck surgery or trauma III. Pregnancy IV. American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status III- V V. History of peripheral arterial diseases/ atherosclerosis VI. BMI > 30kg/m2 VII. Any cardiac rhythm other than sinus VIII. Cardiomyopathy IX. Hemodynamically unstable patients/ patients requiring inotropic and/ or vasopressors.

Primary aim of this study to know the utility of carotid FTc to predict hypotension after induction of general anaesthesia in peritonitis patients undergoing emergency laparotomy.Timepoint: At 1, 3, 5 minutes

Secondary

1. To know the utility of carotid artery ðVpeak to predict hypotension after induction of general anaesthesia. 2. To compare carotid artery FTc & ðVpeak for prediction of hypotension after induction of general anaesthesia. Timepoint: At 1,3, 5 minutes
