Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 CKD stage 5, initiated on maintainance haemodialysis with permanent right IJV venous catheter (Coviden, palindrome) inserted at PGIMER, Chandigarh 2 Patient who are willing to be a part of study and providing the consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.History of previous right internal jugular vein catheterization 2.Bleeding diathesis or known thrombophilic disorder 3.History of previous arteriovenous fistula on the ipsilateral arm 4.Patient who are not willing to be a part of study and/or not ready to provide the consent.

1)Incidence of catheter malfunction on day 1 ( after placement) and day 30 defined by blood flow 250 ml/min 2)Incidence of bleeding after placement requiring manual compression, medication or surgical intervention 3)Cost of heparin lock in both arm Timepoint: 30 days
