Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) All adult patients presenting with the clinical diagnosis of cholecystitis and cholelithiasis of either sex. 2) All patients willing to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients already planned for open cholecystectomy 2) Patients on drugs which alter the CRP levels 3) Patients with- -BMI more than 30kg/m2 -HIV positive patients -Autoimmune conditions (like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel disease) -Inflammatory conditions (like pericarditis) -Gallbladder or other GIT cancer -Breast cancer

To evaluate whether serum CRP can be used as a predictor or marker of conversion in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomyTimepoint: 1 year

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) The level of CRP at which conversion of laparoscopic to open cholecystectomy can be predicted 2) The sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value of CRP in predicting conversion to open cholecystectomy 3) Whether raised serum CRP can predict difficult laparoscopy and its cut off value for the same.Timepoint: 1 year
