Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients willing to participate in the trial. 2. Age between 20-60 years 3. Only newly diagnosed and uncomplicated cases of Type-2 DM with following sugar level o FBS >110 and o HbA1C > 7and 4. Patients fulfilling the WHO criteria for DM i.e. with symptoms of DM plus random blood glucose >200 mg/dl and presence of sugar in urine or fasting blood glucose (FBS) > 126mg/dl or 2- hour blood glucose >200 mg/dl during an oral glucose tolerance test . 5- HbA1c value greater than 7%.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients unwilling to participate in the trial. 2. FBS >200mgm/dl or 3. HbA1C > 10 4. Patients having history of any treatment for diabetes and presenting with complications like severe renal disease, retinopathy, ischemic heart disease, etc. 5. IDDM/Juvenile diabetes, pancreatic or liver surgery. 6. Patients with major medical diseases like cancer, concurrent infection like tuberculosis etc.
