Intervention1: Oral glucose: Preoperatively oral Glucose 100g in 1200ml water a night before surgery and 50g on the morning of surgery in 600ml water
Control Intervention1: Blood glucose, serum cortis

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: ASA physical health status 1and 2 Surgery lasting for more than or equal to 1 hour but less than or equal to 4 hours
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Diabetes mellitus Patients on hormonal or steroid therapy Patients with endocrinological disorders Patients with BMI 30kg/m² Patients with history of gastroesophageal reflux disorders Patients on medications which impair gastrointestinal motility Laparoscopic surgeries Parturients Patients who cannot follow standard ASA fasting guidelines for any reason
