Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. American society of anesthesiologists physical status class I and II 2. Age between 18 to 60 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing emergency surgery 2. Patients with pre-existing neurological disorders 3. Patients with liver and renal disease 4. Patients with psychiatric illness 5. Patients on antiepileptic medication 6. Patients with history of allergy to magnesium or lignocaine 7. Patients with cardiac conduction abnormality 8. Patients on chronic opioid therapy 9. Patients on calcium channel blockers 10. Patients with ASA III, IV and V status
