Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients of American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA), grade I and II of either gender between 18-65 years scheduled to undergo elective surgery in prone position.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with severe debilitating pulmonary disease 2. Patients with significant spinal deformities that may have caused changes to the respiratory system, such as scoliosis, lordosis, kyphosis and ankylosing spondylitis 3. Pregnancy and lactation 4. Multiple attempts at intubation 5. Post intubation bronchospasm

MeasureTime frame
To measure and compare the changes in peak inspiratory pressure and plateau pressure in prone position with spine frame and without spine frame.Timepoint: To measure and compare the changes in peak inspiratory pressure and plateau pressure in prone position with spine frame and without spine frame at the time of induction of general anaesthesia, 5 minutes after induction, just before turning the patient prone and 5 minutes after turning the patient prone.

MeasureTime frame
b. To measure and compare the changes on heart rate, blood pressure in prone position with spine frame and without spine frame.Timepoint: At 5 minutes after intubation and just before turning prone. These parameters will be measured once again immediately after turning the patient prone and 5 minutes after placing the patient in the prone position with/without a spine frame.
