Intervention1: Sunlight exposure: 30 minutes per week over 40% body surface area for 17-18 weeks Control Intervention1: Vitamin D: 0.5 ml(400IU) oral vitamin D3 daily for 17-18 weeks

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy term predominantly breast fed infants with documented birth details

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any systemic illness or malformation or clinical rickets.Calcium or vitamin D intake by the infant or mother. NICU stay > 48hrs,h/o sepsis/ meningitis or anthropometry +2SD.

MeasureTime frame
Proportion of infants having serum 25(OH)D levels â?¥ 20 ng/mL at 6 months of age in both the groups. Timepoint: At 6 months of age

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
â?¢ Serum 25(OH)D at 6 months of age. â?¢ Proportion of infants developing clinical rickets at 6 months of age. â?¢ Proportion of infants having serum 25(OH)D levels 12ng/mL at 6 months of age in both the groups. Timepoint: At 6 months of age
