Intervention1: Zinc sulphate dispersible tablets: Zinc sulphate as per the code would be supplemented to the study population for five days in twice daily dose basis and trend of improvement of sympto

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: clinically diagnosed cases of acute bronchiolitis whose guardians give consent for treatment with the coded drug

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: severe malnutrition, congenital heart diseases, suspected asthma, preterm and IUGR babies

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction in duration of hospital admission.Timepoint: Children will be reassessed daily, ie 24 hours apart, till discharge.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction in requirement of PICU admission, requirement of mechanical ventilation and time taken for clinical recovery.Timepoint: Patients would be evaluated daily, i.e. 24 hours apart till discharge and then on 7th day and 14th day of initiation of drug. Any child with wheezing on 14th day follow up would be reassessed after 7 days, i.e. on the 21st day of initiation of the drug and likewise, weekly, till symptom free.
