Interventions

Intervention1: Psidium guajava gel: A gel prepared using commercially available Psidium guajava leaf extract. 0.1 to 0.2ml of the gel will be delivered once after root planing. Control Intervention1:

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Generalised chronic periodontitis with >=20 remaining teeth. 2. Probing pocket depth >=5mm 3. Radiographic evidence of bone loss and an evident clinical attachment loss. 4. Consenting patients who are co-operative and able to come for regular follow up.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant/lactating women. 2. Patients who are on antibiotic therapy in the previous 6 months. 3. Patients who have undertaken any periodontal therapy in past 6 months. 4. Smoking. 5. Alcoholism.
