Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. New pulmonary and extra pulmonary adult TB patients attending Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. 2. Microbiologically confirmed cases 3. The suspected cases in which the physician decides to initiate antituberculosis drugs empirically. 4. Patients referred from outside hospitals who have started their Anti tuberculosis treatment within last 1 month

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age less than 18 years 2. Patients who refuse to give consent 3. MDR, XDR tuberculosis 4. Patients who are already on ATT for more than 1 month

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
First outcome measure is the changes in depression and anxiety scores of tuberculosis patients after completion of ATT.Timepoint: Baseline assessment at the time of diagnosis, Then at 2 months, 4 months, final follow up at the time of treatment completion or at the end of 1 year whichever is earlier.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Second outcome measure is the change in HRQL of tuberculosis patients after the completion of ATT.Timepoint: Baseline assessment at the time of diagnosis, Then at 2 months, 4 months, final follow up at the time of treatment completion or at the end of 1 year whichever is earlier.
