Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients who are diagnosed with alcohol Dependence Syndrome as per International Classification of Disease - 10th revision - Diagnostic Criteria for Research. (WHO, 1993) 2.Men aged between 18 to 50 years old. 3.Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire (SADQ) greater than 16 4.The Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol (revised version) CIWA-Ar greater than or equal to 15 5.Ready to give informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Any other co-morbid substance dependence. 2.Any medical illness 3.Any other psychiatric illness, dementia, psychotic disorder 4.On psychotropic medication in 2 weeks preceding the study
