Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult (age more than 18 years) medical or surgical patients with sepsis admitted in our ICU and expected to stay in ICU for seven days will be included in our study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Failure to obtain consent 2. Death or discharge within 7 days 3. Paraparesis, quadriparesis or primary systemic neuromuscular disease at presentation 4. Deep venous thrombosis

To study the correlation between muscle layer thickness and echogenicity and the change in muscle layer thickness of quadriceps muscle and anterior temporalis muscle.Timepoint: on Day 1,3,5,7 and discharge
