Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Men above 18 years of age, with alcohol dependence syndrome as per international classification of diseases (ICD-10), who have undergone de-toxification therapy for approximately 2 weeks as defined by Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcoholâ??Revised (CIWA-Ar) < 8.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Patients with organic brain disorders like epilepsy, stroke, CNS infections, CNS tumors, dementia, significant head injury, recent episode of seizure less than 48 hours before study, Diabetic vasculopathy, severe chronic kidney disease, Liver failure (as defined by the following laboratory cut offs) -S. Bilirubin > 2 mg/dl, AST/ALT > 5 times - Substance abuse other than nicotine - Patients with severe mental illness like psychosis, schizophrenia, manic-depressive illness. - Patients who cannot co-operate for scan or who refuse consent for the study.
