Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with Type 1 diabetes attending Diabetes of Young Clinic or admitted in Endocrinology Ward of AIIMS and 2. Patients with celiac disease diagnosed on the basis of positive tTG Ab on screening and duodenal biopsy suggestive of celiac disease on the basis of modified marsh criteria or patients with positive tTG Ab level >200 IU/ml with normal duodenal biopsy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Chronic diarrhea defined as diarrhea persisting more than 4 weeks in adults and more than 3 months in children. 2. Recurrent diarrhea defined as frequent episodes of acute diarrhea each lasting less than 2 weeks. 3. Severe anemia defined as hemoglobin less than 8 g/dl as measured by automated analyzer

Frequency of hypoglycemic episodes defined as blood glucose value of less than 70 mg/dl as measured by self monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) at 6th month of starting gluten free diet (GFD) in patients with type-1 diabetes (type-1 DM) and celiac disease as compared with the group of patients with type -1 DM and celiac disease not receiving GFDTimepoint: 6 month

1. To study the effects of gluten free diet on anthropometric parameters including height, weight and body mass index in patients with type-1 diabetes and celiac disease. 2. To study the effects of gluten free diet on glycemic control including glycosylated hemoglobin levels and insulin dose requirement, in patients with type-1 diabetes and celiac disease. 3. To study the effects of gluten free diet on bone mineral homeostasis in patients with type-1 diabetes and celiac disease Timepoint: 3months, 6months, 9months and 1 yr
