Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All consecutive neonates admitted in the unit fulfilling following criteria will be included in the study: 1)Gestational age >=35 weeks, if not ascertainable, then admission weight >1500 g. 2)Postnatal age 14 days or less 3)Total serum bilirubin in the severe hyperbilirubinemia range requiring intervention as per AAP guidelines

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Neonates who have undergone exchange transfusion prior to enrollment 2)Neonates with gross congenital malformation

A)Newborn Illness Severity at admission as determined by (score for neonatal acute physiology) SNAP II, haemolytic disorders, perinatal asphyxia, acidosis, temperature instability, hypoglycaemia, sepsis as risk factors for acute bilirubin encephalopathy. B)BERA abnormalityTimepoint: 28 Days 56 Days
