Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients reporting to the department for Orthodontic treatment. 2.No history of previous orthodontic treatment. 3.Crowding should not exceed 5mm. 4.No other therapeutic intervention. 5.No medical contraindications.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with craniofacial syndromes and systemic illnesses. 2.Patients already enrolled in other studies

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Proclination and vertical changes in the position of the incisors, and mesial movement of the molars as measured on a lateral cephalogram and study models.Timepoint: Starting point- Before the bonding of the appliance. End point- 0.017x0.025 inch stainless steel wire in situ for atleast 6 weeks.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Alleviation of crowding will be measured with Little’s Index on the study models.Timepoint: Starting point- Before the bonding of the appliance. Endpoint-Outcome will be 0.017x0.025inch stainless steel wire in situ for at least 6 weeks.;Arch length measurement will be done again on the study models.Timepoint: Starting point- Before the bonding of the appliance. Endpoint- 0.017x0.025 inch stainless steel wire in situ for at least 6 weeks.;Chair side time needed for both the ligation techniques.Timepoint: Starting point-beginning of ligation procedure. End point- ligation of the last tooth.;Changes in the Inter-canine width and inter molar width which will be measured on the models.Timepoint: Starting point- Before the bonding of the appliance.;Oral hygiene status- Gingival Index and Plaque Index will be recorded.Timepoint: Starting point- Before the bonding of the appliance. Endpoint- Outcome will be assessed every visit i.e.4 weeks till the 0.017x0.025 inch stainless steel wire is in situ for at least 6 weeks.
